Guest house, traditional atmosphere
Without a doubt, this Riad is the closest riad to Jema El Fna square (precisely two minutes on foot). It is very easily accessible and located in a quaint and colourful district, yet when one steps across the threshold, one encounters an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. This riad is full of beautiful vistas along arcaded walkways leading to unexpected nooks and crannies, with two downstairs sitting rooms where one can shelter from the summer heat or the cold air from the Atlas in winter. There is a second patio with a small pool and a room opening off it. Upstairs: best feature of the house - two magnificent suites in what would have been the rooms reserved for the master of the house and his family. The decoration is rich yet delicate, traditional painted wood ceilings, lovingly restored carved plasterwork and zelliges - mosaics of thousands of jewel-like tiles, all combining to create the atmosphere of a fairy-tale palace. The roof terrace offers an unrivalled view - all the intense life of Jemaa El Fna, the Atlas Mountains, swathed in mist in summer or stark and snow-capped in winter and an unparalleled view of the Koutoubia defying the passage of time to dominate the skyline and call out a reminder of their spirituality to the busy worldlings below. ...
